Cultural Disgrace
I
like breeding chicken in my backyard.
Ever since, there’s always chicken as I don’t run out of its supply specially
the native ones as they too are considered not as prize catch but like trophies, they
carry more value and weight as token of recognition for having delivered services probably
appreciated my clients in the field. But sori guys, mostly of my chickens wala gipangayo kon dili hinitag,as we say it
in the field..
Unfortauntely
though, many of these given to me are all gone except for a batic rooster I
have until this day serving more as my
clock waking me up when my time is due to wake up specially when I’m
writing important work just like this column. The rest gone one after the other
unfortuantanot for food but just out of
the heck of it as many friends specially
those breed ones for cockfight.
Proponent
of making cockfighting as cultural heritage must be sick. They better seek professional help as it is a
sick joke instituting cockfight as cultural heritage. What it is if not a
disgrace then. Why not make it as blood
sport instead, barbaric one that don’t deserve support and participation.
